About the AFS San Diego Area Team

AFS is an international non-profit exchange program run by volunteers whose mission seeks to bring the people of the world closer together through intercultural learning and understanding.

The San Diego AFS area team is composed of many local volunteers, supporting the effort of the larger AFS USA organization. The geographic area encompassed by this area team is the county of San Diego and the Temecula valley, including the cities of Temecula and Murrieta.

San Diego AFS Area Team Goals

  • Achieve and sustain AFS guidelines for operating as an Area Team.
  • Provide a safe and meaningful exchange experience for locally hosted students.
  • Make the hosting experience enjoyable and easy as possible for host families.
  • Improve relations with schools.
  • Encourage SD Area Team high school student participation in exchanges and interaction with hosted students, and foster continued involvement for returnees.
  • Make the volunteer tasks as easy and enjoyable as possible while achieving other goals.
